Fundraising: The Donor Retention Blues

If you are having trouble getting your donors to repeat their giving year after year, you are not alone. A new 2012 Fundraising effectiveness Survey Report from the Association of Fundraising Professionals show that for the year 2011, “every $100 gained in 2011 was offset by $100 in losses through gift attrition.” Furthermore, for every 100 donors gained, 107 were lost to attrition. The picture gets worse according to the organization’s size: smaller organizations suffer the most. Unfortunately, this has been a disturbing trend over the past seven years.
